About this worksheet
Number bonds show how a whole number splits into two parts. Each bond has three circles: the whole on top and two parts below, with one number missing. Choose bonds to 5, 10, 20 or 100. They are the bridge between counting and fluent addition and subtraction.
Tips for parents and teachers
- Say it aloud: '7 is 4 and 3'.
- Use two colors of counters to make each bond.
- When a part is missing, count up from the known part to the whole.
- Each bond gives four facts: 4 + 3, 3 + 4, 7 − 4 and 7 − 3.
