About this worksheet

Fraction practice with fractions written the proper stacked way: equivalent fractions, simplifying, adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions, comparing, mixed numbers and improper fractions, fractions of a number, and converting between fractions, decimals and percents. Every sheet is generated fresh and has an answer key.

Tips for parents and teachers

  • Whatever you do to the top of a fraction, do the same to the bottom: that keeps it equal.
  • To add or subtract, the denominators must match first. Only the numerators are added.
  • To simplify, divide the top and bottom by the same number until nothing else goes into both.
  • Use fraction strips or circles so children can see why 2/4 equals 1/2.
